Description

Under general supervision, oversees pharmacy operations, clinical, &/or support activities in assigned area. Ensures complete compliance w/ standard practices of professional & applicable laws. Performs variety of supervisory duties pertaining to personnel function & professional duties to enable practice of pharmaceutical care & highly effective customer service. Resolves problems & supervises assigned staff.

Essential Functions:
Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, & terminates assigned staff as appropriate
Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, & authority parameters to assigned staff
Manages payroll &/or non-payroll budget; monitors expenditures & ensures compliance w/ budget; promotes effective use of resources
Facilitates staff participation in supporting pharmaceutical care
Serves as team player to implement & continually improve related work processes
Seeks opportunities to enhance internal/external customer pharmacy experience/satisfaction by developing, coaching, mentoring, leading by example, & seeking staffs' active participation in customer service/service excellence training & skill enhancement
Participates in regional work plan development & revision; aligns & prioritizes pharmacy staff activities to enable department to achieve goals
Provides leadership, oversight, & coordination for all regional drug initiatives at individual pharmacy site
Assists in operationalizing outcome care maps & disease state management plans per departmental goals
Provides information & offers advice regarding treatment to patient or provider, as applicable
Serves as resource in areas of maintenance & appropriate utilization of regional drug formulary, Drug Utilization Review (DUR) & Medication Use Evaluation (MUE) activities, & disease management initiates; develops staffs' knowledge, skill, & ability to do same
Complies w/ new & current policies & procedures; state & federal regulations; performs applicable & appropriate inspections to ensure organizational adherence
Manages & improves area of responsibility by evaluating, coordinating, scheduling, & handling of requests & concerns
Oversees inventory management, as applicable
Ensures security of pharmacy & pharmaceuticals, as applicable
Provides effective leadership through example
Participates in personnel development through orientating, training, evaluating, rewarding, recognizing, celebrating, & coaching; consults w/ supervisor where applicable
Establishes consistent lines of communication to pharmacy leadership, hospital & clinic administration, physicians, & other health care related services
Participates in regional as well as local pharmacy meetings
Performs pharmacist duties as required
Performs other duties & accepts responsibility as assigned


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
Completion of an emergency contraception training course approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), curriculum-based programs from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, applicable state or local health department programs, or programs recognized by the board of pharmacy
Valid Hawaii Pharmacist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification. (ONLY - Pharmacist Lead-Non Ops does not require)
Demonstrated leadership skills (project leadership, professional association leadership)
Demonstrated ability to safely handle and/or prepare various pharmaceutical compounds (e.g., chemotherapeutic agents, biologicals).
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, conflict resolution, customer service, decision making, group presentations, influence, interpersonal relations, leadership, oral communication, problem solving, quality management, staff development/coaching, strategy thinking/strategy development, team building, teamwork, and written communication
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications
Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone
Reading, writing, speaking, understanding English
Training/giving and receiving instructions
Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from a school recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education
Completion of general or administrative residency program
