LDS hospital is a 227-bed facility located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is owned and operated by Intermountain Health Care (IHC), a non-profit health care organization, serving the needs of Utah and Southern Idaho residents. LDS Hospital provides Critical Care, Joint Center, General Orthopedics, Musculoskeletal, Medicine, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Surgical, Women and Childrens, Diagnostic Cardiology, Fitness Institute and Behavior Health services to the community it serves. Clinical pharmacists at LDS Hospital are involved in therapeutic drug monitoring, medication reconciliation, mentoring interns/students, TPN ordering, reviewing patient histories, reviewing physician orders, consulting with physicians and patient counseling. This position works specifically with inpatient and outpatient oncology/bone marrow transplant patients and is a valued member of the BMT team. This clinician is actively involved in processing complex chemotherapy regimens, protocol development/implementation, developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), drug studies, providing drug information, continuous quality improvement initiatives, BMT rounds, Tumor Board, developing policies and procedures, processing chemotherapy orders, Medication Reconciliation, and providing patient education.
The Pharmacy Department utilizes Robotics, Automated Dispensing Machines and Bar Coding to support a safe medication distribution system. Staff provides these services in accordance with governmental regulatory agencies and corporate guidelines, policies and procedures.
