Days ,no weekends General Statement of Duties: Accountable for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Central Pharmacy on their assigned shift, assists the Operations Manager or Director in all activities of processing, preparation, and dispensing of patient medication orders according to professional standards and practices. Essential Job Functions:
1. Supervises personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Is responsible for their employee's output and conducts feedbacks of supervised employees in a timely manner. 2. Ensures all drug distribution records are maintained. Examples include but are not limited to: prepacking records, unit inspections, compounding and controlled substance records. Completes mandatory inventories and may participate in the hospital's annual inventory process. 3. Monitors key indicators within the drug distribution system such as order entry time and drug delivery time. Will work directly with management and staff to continuously improve the drug distribution process, and troubleshoots information system problems to include Meditech, Pyxis or interface issues. 4. Follows all infection control procedures to include aseptic technique and department standards and protocols in the preparation of sterile products. Must maintain a pharmacy environment that is appropriate for the preparation of medications both sterile and non-sterile and meets all current standards of practice. 5. Will manage purchasing and inventory processes to include: maintenance of adequate supplies of drugs and medical supplies to meet patient needs, monthly inspections to insure all drugs are in date and properly stored. Follows through will all pending orders and ensures that they are completed or resolved before the end of the shift. 6. Responsible for identification, resolution, and documentation of medication errors throughout the medication use process. Will complies with formulary guidelines/restrictions and contacts physicians concerning non-formulary drugs and completes documentation on non-formulary drug request form. Minimum Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm. D required. 2. Five years experience in a hospital pharmacy setting (or equivalent) or three years supervisory capacity in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
